Abstract
This study is to reproduce the symbol of client 's work in terms of the analytic psychological perspective in order to understand the healing meaning of the art therapy process. The art therapy sessions for a total 32 cases were applied to the alternative school students with high level of repression of anger and physical symptoms. For this study, we describe the meaningful session during the art therapy process, and analyzed the symbols revealed in the work through the psychological change of the client from the perspective of analytical psychology. As a result, the client could control anger and relieve physical symptoms as the client takes a rite of passage away from identification with mother, and in the work the symbol of self and symbol of motherhood were changed. After the client experienced confusion and went through psychological death and began heroic individualization process, the symbols of self were the order of division, crouch, clown, hero, tree. On the other hand, in the process of the client overcame the prototype giant maternity and accepted the mother of reality and was independent of mother, he symbols of maternity were the order of mountain, mound grave, waterfall, inexhaustible spring, sick mountain, fish without fins. Therefore, I could find healing meanings by analyzing the universality of individual-created symbols in the art therapy process.
